Country Song / Holst, Gustav
Country Song is the first piece of Two Songs Without Words, composed in 1906 and dedicated to Ralph Vaughan Williams.
This is a strong, splendid, beautifully orchestrated piece that sounds thoroughly English, featuring lively dancing rhythms and one of those rich, mellow trio tunes that we now sense as thoroughly English.
